On Friday, May 23 through Sunday, May 25, Six Flags Discovery Kingdom will debut its newest and hippest roller coaster in the SKY,Tony Hawk’s Big Spin.  This three-day launch will include a fully-loaded schedule of skateboard-themed special events, live music and activities for the entire family to enjoy.

Each day, the Tony Hawk’s Big Spin location will be decked out with demonstrations by local professional and amateur skateboarders, graffiti art displays, break dancing performances plus fun clinics and interactive opportunities such as skateboard lessons, graffiti art, skateboard deck assembly and even how to scratch/spin like a disc jockey.  Times for activities will vary throughout the day.

Tony Hawk’s Big Spin is an all new roller coaster that features four-passenger cars that rotate and spin freely along a twisted steel track designed to simulate the fast-paced tricks and maneuvers of pro skateboard legend Tony Hawk.  Standing 53 feet tall, the ride travels at speeds exceeding 35 mph along 1,351 feet of track.  Moms, dads and kids 42” can join in on this new twist on the traditional coaster experience. Riders can also purchase a video CD of their experience as a mounted video camera captures their reactions throughout the ride.

That same day, Six Flags Discovery Kingdom Season Pass holders can ride roller coasters all night during the exclusive Coasters After Dark evening event from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.  Interested individuals can purchase a 2008 Season Pass for $69.99 each until May 25 before the price increases. Season Passes and daily general admission tickets can be purchased online at sixflags.com or at the park.

The park is open on Friday, May 23 from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday, May 24 from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, May 25 from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.  The park is open daily starting Memorial Day through Labor Day, September 1, 2008.
